"The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease."- William Osler
And the best physician will teach you how to heal yourself
Dr. Geralyn Kruger offers a synergy of Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, and Functional Medicine. Her mission is to uncover the root causes of complex dis-ease presentations that belong to this modern age, by bridging the ancient wisdom of Traditional Eastern Medicine with the precision of modern-day Functional Medicine.
Her passion stems from her own journey, where she has healed multiple autoimmune/complex conditions that were missed by the conventional medical model. Insight alchemized from these experiences is woven into the tapestry of how she practices medicine and has cultivated deep empathy for those that walk through her door. Dr. Kruger provides exceptional care for her patients by creating highly individualized treatment plans targeted to achieve their goals and by encouraging clear communication between the body and mind.
Dr. Kruger obtained her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Pacific College of Health and Science, her Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2011, and Bachelor's degrees in Cello Performance and Political Science from the University of Massachusetts in 2005. The New England School of Acupuncture is the oldest accredited Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine school in the United States, with a demanding program including the study of Western Biomedicine as well as over 3,500 hours of hands-on clinical training residencies throughout the Boston area. She is Nationally Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and State Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.

Functional Medicine: To get answers, we need to ask better questions.
Functional Medicine, like Traditional Eastern Medicine, is a holistic framework that views all systems of the body as interconnected. All aspects of physiology and unique health history are investigated to uncover root causes of imbalance. The goal is to assist the body's innate healing capacity to restore natural homeostasis and well-being.
Our society is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of people who suffer from complex, chronic illnesses: cancer, autoimmune disorders, pernicious infections, endocrine disruption, infertility, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gut dysbiosis, addiction, toxic overload, and mental illness. While conventional medicine is phenomenal in terms of acute, emergency care, and surgical interventions, people with chronic pain and complex illnesses are slipping through the cracks.
Functional labs may be selected to view biomarkers targeted to uncover the origins of mineral deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, environmental/chemical toxicity, mycotoxins, food sensitivities, gut dysbiosis, hidden infections, genetic makeup, organ functionality, brain health and communication pathways. The precision and breadth of this kind of lab work is at the heart of Functional Medicine, and its accurate interpretation relies on having a Practitioner who understands how these biomarkers seesaw with one another, and the patterns that ensue. Prevention, screening for red flags, and long-term wellness is prioritized, rather than a reactive/disease-centered approach which we often see in conventional medicine.
